South West Wales Tourism

Designate has worked as South West Wales Tourism

Partnership’s leading agency, since 2004

Operating under the umbrella of Visit Wales, SWWTP works in partnership with local authorities and a broad spread of tourism, hospitality and leisure industry representatives to increase tourism related income.

SWWTP’s strategy has been to achieve standout in the crowded destination market. Having defined three niche interest groups, we created the following distinctive websites for each target market:

Wild West Wales – for outdoor activities

Inspirational South West Wales – for cultural activities

One Big Garden – for gardens and outdoor activities

Our brief was to maximise marketing spend, whilst reducing costs. As a result we’ve implemented a new campaign strategy, shifting communications away from the traditional ‘press advertising to generate brochure requests’ route towards a primarily online campaign. A combination of online advertising, search engine marketing, email marketing, viral activity and online PR, supplemented by DM and press ads, has been designed to drive traffic to the three websites. Three new brochures were designed focusing less on providing information and more on inspiring users to find out more.

The campaigns have achieved remarkable business results. There has been a 424% increase in the database of registered users, emails using acquisition lists show an open rate of 25.8% and print costs have been substantially reduced.
