(photo by Jose Jurado) A recent exhibition opening night in a converted studio down a dingy ally had everything a good opening night should, wine, guests, nibbles, white walls, spot lights and art! This collective of MA artists have held a series of exhibitions together entitled Interim. It got me thinking how simple and effective DIY exhibitions can be, they bring groups of emerging artists together with little constraint and maximum enthusiasm - they help the artists gain exposure and experience, feeding off one another and exhibiting art together under a theme, often juxtaposing work in exciting ways. I'd like to see social networks bring artists of differing disciplines together that might not have otherwise have worked together and for them to lean on each other in order to provide everything the exhibition needs - from a gallery space down a dingy alley in the arty shabby part of town to the nibbles and of course the wine! Here's one website which helps people to find a space to exhibit somewhereto.com
